RothLawSunday Funnies

Get Out of Jail FreeJailhouse lawyers have a lot of time on their hands.  They also can be darn creative.  A counterfeiter spending ten years as a guest of the Federal Government argued that he was being impermissibly detained for three more days than he had been sentenced to.  His ten years, he said, included three leap years, and since a year is generally understood to be only 365 days, he should be released three days early.

The Court rejected his argument.  Nor did he receive – that we know of – an early release for creativity.

Happy Leap Day to everyone working an extra day this month.

(And our thanks to Thompson Reuters for pointing us to this wink of a case.)
